Hydroform Solutions for Complex Metal Components

What is hydroforming?

Hydroforming is a forming technique that uses controlled fluid pressure to shape a metal tube or sheet against a die, producing lightweight yet rigid parts in a single operation. The absence of weld seams and the ±0.05 mm accuracy we achieve in Vansbro translate into higher fatigue strength, tighter tolerances and reduced downstream machining.

Why choose PVI Hydroforming AB?

In-house tooling & simulation

Our engineers design and manufacture every die in our own tool shop and validate each stage with finite-element simulation. Because the tooling never leaves the building, quotation-to-production lead-times stay short and design iterations are easy.

Multi-material expertise

Whether your component is carbon steel, stainless, aluminium, copper or even titanium, we have proven hydroforming parameters and 3 000 × 1 500 mm press capacities to match. This breadth lets you switch materials without changing supplier.

Precision backed by certification

PVI Hydroforming AB holds ISO 9001, ISO 14001 and IATF 16949. Coupled with 3-axis and 5-axis coordinate-measuring machines, these systems keep every hydroformed batch within spec for safety-critical automotive and industrial programs.

Our hydroforming process – step by step

1. Design & simulation

We import your CAD, perform formability analysis and optimise wall-thickness distribution before the first chip is cut.

2. Tool manufacturing

Dies, punches and pressure intensifiers are milled and hardened in-house, ensuring repeatability over long runs.

3. Tube or sheet hydroforming

The raw blank is loaded into our presses where fluid pressure up to several hundred bar expands it into the final geometry in a single stroke.

4. 3D laser cutting & finishing

Immediately after hydroform shaping, five-axis fibre lasers (up to 30 kW) trim flanges, pierce holes and bevel edges. Integrated laser welding stations can join multiple hydroformed parts into sub-assemblies without moving them off line.

Industries & markets we serve

  • Automotive – chassis rails, suspension links, crash-management systems.
  • General industry & energy – bespoke tubular frames, pressure-tight profiles and heat-exchange elements.
We ship serial volumes every week to OEM and Tier-1 plants throughout Europe and North America.

Sustainability & corporate facts

Hydroforming lowers scrap rates and material weight, which in turn reduces CO₂ per produced vehicle. Our ISO 14001 framework helps us monitor energy, coolant and water consumption. PVI Hydroforming AB employs around 50 specialists and posted a turnover close to 100 MSEK in 2023 as part of the PVI Industries group.
