Hydroforming steel — precision components for automotive and industrial applications

At PVI Hydroforming, we specialise in hydroforming steel components that combine geometric freedom with repeatable accuracy. As a component supplier of hydroformed pipes, profiles and sheets in steel, aluminium and copper, we serve customers mainly in the automotive and industrial segments from our facility in Vansbro, Sweden.

Why hydroforming steel for your part?

Hydroforming makes advanced geometries feasible as one-piece solutions that reduce welding seams, improve surface quality (no external or internal gripping tools) and deliver consistent dimensions — within 0.05 mm. The process also increases stiffness in the formed part. For projects that must balance low weight with high strength and tight tolerances, hydroforming steel is a proven choice.

Process & in-house capabilities

We use water-based pressure systems to shape metals into complex, high-quality components, enabling intricate contours in a single process and reducing the need for additional assembly. Our hydroforming is supported by advanced simulation tools and CAD/CAM — all jobs are simulated with material specifications for fast, accurate service. Complementary processes include 3D laser cutting, laser welding, hydraulic pressing, tool manufacturing (available upon request) and CMM measurement for precise verification. This end-to-end capability ensures that hydroforming steel programs move efficiently from design to series production.

Materials & applications

Beyond steel, we routinely form aluminium and copper, and we also provide dedicated solutions for stainless steel. Typical applications include automotive chassis and structural parts as well as exhaust system components; in industrial equipment, we supply robust parts for machinery and frameworks requiring high precision. Because hydroforming distributes pressure evenly across the workpiece, the process helps minimise material thinning and waste while achieving the required performance level. These attributes translate directly to better results when hydroforming steel.

Quality, scale & production facts

Our operation is built for reliable series delivery. We are certified to ISO 9001, IATF 16949 and ISO 14001, supported by a Code of Conduct. Production resources include modern fiber-laser machines up to 30 kW, annual laser cutting of ≈4,000 tons in carbon and stainless qualities, formats up to 3,000 × 1,500 mm and thicknesses up to 25 mm. The site covers 5,500 m² and the team comprises 47 employees. We deliver high-volume production to leading automotive and industrial companies in Europe and North America.

Work with PVI Hydroforming
